Grandfather Alex was the brother of Louis Landry, and grandmother Mary was the sister to Jane Cross, wife of Tommy Cross. Father Baccardax is an old friend of my family who along with Hubert and Bernadette Landry, have visited Somerville many times. I really enjoy your website for the memories it brings, and familiar places it portrays. Bob Landry

I travelled thru this area in 2000 on the way to visit Cape Breton Island with my husband. I love the beaches in this area. They are much like the beaches of Cape Cod, which I live near. I am a descendant of Placide Doiron from Barachois, N.B., who settled in Waltham, Ma. in 1890. My grandmother Aglae Cormier came to the states in 1897 and was married in Waltham in 1899. My father was J. Arthur Doiron. I was in Moncton doing genealogy the last week of June 2003 with Stephen White. Claire M.(Doiron) Phillips

Hat's off to Pomquet This Web site is beautiful. I am a desendant of the Gerrior Family Tracadie/Lundy/Larry's River As a young boy growing up in Halifax, Nova Scotia one of my best friends was a Broussard desendant of Pomquet. As victims of Assimilation we had know idea how much history we shared until we became young men and found our roots so closely related. Who knows, our Great Grandfathers many Generations ago may have been good friends.

Your web site puts Pomquet on the Map!

Beautiful, wonderful site. THANK YOU!! I feel I have another chance at a connection for my paternal great-grandmother's line. Her name was Jennie Duyong, from Arichat, emmigrated to Boston about 1884, married Henry DeWolf (Edouard Henri Wolfe) also from Arichat who emmigrated to Newton, MA in 1883, along with his brother. Any information regarding the movements of these two families would be greatly appreciated.

My name is Claire Marie Doiron Phillips. I have been doing my Acadian genealogy since 1998. My grandparents came from New Brunswick. My Doiron grandfather Placide, came from Barachois and his wife, Aglae Cormier from Memramcook. They settled in Waltham, Ma. My sister Pat, my husband and I are looking forward to coming to the reunion next year. I have been in this part of Nova Scotia before and love it in the Maritimes. I was in Moncton this past June with my genealogy society at the University with Lucy Le Blanc Consentino. We met with Stephen White & Paul Delaney. I like your site and find it very easy to navigate.

The Duyon families of Isle Madame were born Duon in Pomquet. My greatgrandfather was Theodore Duon, born in Pomquet and changed to Duyon by the priest in Arichat. His parents were Jacques Duon and Angilque Drouillet. THere were eight Duons that changed to Duyon in Arichat. ( source Stephen White) The Duyon families will be in Mr. Whites book of 2004.

I was very please to find this website. My birth father and I, unfortunately, do not speak so I am unable to find out more about my family history - Broussard. As an American, European roots are very important to me. All I knew was that my grandfather came to the US from Canada and that he was French.

Thank you for your work and sharing the History!

Evette Janine Broussard Schmelzer
